Highland's Garden Club is selling hanging flower baskets to help us break ground on our new beautiful courtyard garden & outdoor classroom. It’s good to be aware of all the different pulls on our time, so you can try to build in some breaks and pauses. While this is a lot of fun, it can also add stress to our bodies and minds (kids and parents) and sometimes our bodies don’t know the difference between the good stress and the bad stress. We have one more week until spring break and after that there will be a lot of fun and exciting events at school and in the community. This is the last week for the lottery for Kindergarten students! If you have a younger sibling coming to our school next year, please be sure to complete the application and enrollment. Our teachers would really appreciate the collective effort as it is definitely impacting their instructional day. We know it can be really inconvenient to make that extra trip to the office, but the hope is that inconvenience prompts a change to get here prior to the 7:45 bell. It’s causing a lot of missed attendance marks and miscommunications between the classrooms, the office and home. We don’t like to close the gate on any of you, however we are contributing to the problem of tardiness when we keep it open. If you are arriving at or after 7:45 please plan on parking and walking your child through the office. Write it down, review it as a family and post it. Use an arrival time range of 7:35-7:40 and then work backward to determine your “out-the-door” time, breakfast, teeth brushing, etc. A good morning routine starts with a good night time routine. It’s safe to say that time change really hurt us! The number of students arriving after the second bell jumped dramatically this week, so I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to revisit those morning and night time routines with your children.
